Moles can be removed variety of ways, the main treatment is either surgical excision or a shave excision under local anaesthetic.
Shave excision is where we use a surgical blade ( dermalblade ) to remove the mole parallel to the skins surface, which leaves a small wound that is then cauterised with an electric current to stop any bleeding. No stitches are required and the wound heals over the 10 -14 days.

If a mole is thought to be suspicious it will not be removed in clinic. A detailed GP letter will be written, along with images taken through the dermatascope, to aid a speedy referral into the NHS.

Moles are lesions on the skin that are made from cells called melanocytes. Melanocytes are the pigment cells in our skin that give us our skin tone. A mole is the result of a collection of these cells.
Before any mole removal, we conduct a thorough assessment to determine suitability and the most appropriate removal method. This can be either part of the full body mole screening, or a skin lesion consultation. This assessment is crucial in ensuring the best possible outcome and your safety. All removed moles are sent for histology testing – this is included in the cost of the procedure. Histology provides crucial information about the mole's characteristics and helps to ensure early detection of any potential concerns.
