Skin cancer is the most prevalent type of cancer in the UK.

At The York Skin Clinic, we offer full body mole screening performed by specialist dermatology nurses who are qualified in lesion recognition. During this appointment, the nurse will discuss your skin history, your UV risk factors and your health history before screening your body for skin lesions. Dermatoscopic images will be taken of any lesions of concern as part of the skin assessment. During the consultation treatment options will be discussed if appropriate. Health education and skin self-surveillance will be provided as part of this appointment.  If you would like a lesion removed and it is benign we can discuss these treatment options.

If any lesions are found to be of clinical concern this will be discussed with you directly and be referred back into the NHS.

Why should I have a mole screen?

A skin lesion is any mark or spot that is different from the rest of your skin. Lesions are extremely common, and most of the time complete lesions are harmless. If you notice anything new or changing on your skin it is advisable to get it checked by a health professional to make sure it is not a skin cancer.
